Why OATS

OATS prides itself with its horse care, service to clients and its ability to solve all your horse transportation needs.

OATS has brought into service the only air-conditioned, rear-facing, platform-loading 6 horse trailer currently existing in the USA. This trailer provides for both the comfort and safety of horses traveling in our care.

Why Rear-Facing?
Research studies both in the USA and abroad during the past 30 years have shown that horses prefer traveling ‘rear-facing’ because they are more comfortable; they can keep their balance better, reducing the pressure on forelegs and chest if surge braking occurs. They can lower their heads to rest and also keep their bronchial passage clear. Comfortable means less stress and that means fewer tendencies to scramble or kick, lower heart rates, and better health.

Why Platform Loading?
Horse that are difficult to load because of prior bad experiences, first timers, or just infrequent travelers lose their fear of loading up a ramp into a dark hole when asked to ‘step up’ onto a platform. Once on the platform, the horse has open vision all around and is simply asked to back into the trailer. The handler is always in control of the head and is never in the kick zone or a blind spot. At destination, the horse always exits face first.
